Marco Polo Airport is located only 6 km far from Venice and there are several options to get into the city from it.



ATVO Fly Bus - Express Service:
ATVO provide buses for transportation between M.Polo Airport and Piazzale Roma (in Venice) or Mestre railway station (in the mainland) and this is the most convenient option. The single ticket price costs only € 3,00 and you can store your luggage in the proper bus compartment.
The trip to Piazzale Roma or Mestre lasts about 20 minutes.


Tickets can be purchased at the following places:
- ticket office in the arrivals hall (opening time 8.00 - 24.00)
- automatic ticket machines in the baggage claim area (photo)
- automatic ticket machines outside the airport in the bus departure area

Remember to validate your ticket. You can find stamping machine in the bus departure area outside the airport or you can use the machine behind the driver's seat.



ACTV city bus:
You can reach Venice Piazzale Roma taking city bus number 5. This option is the less expensive (it costs € 2,50) but is a little uncomfortable if you have a lot of luggage. There isn't a bags compartment and you need to take your luggage into the bus.
The trip lasts about 30 minutes, but it depends on the number of stops for local passengers.

ACTV tichets can be purchased at the booth in the arrivals hall or at the tabacchi/newspapers store. According to the ACTV timetable first bus is at 4.08 a.m., last one at 1.10 a.m.


If you need to reach Mestre railway station you can take bus number 15.



ALILAGUNA Water Buses:

Alilaguna is a service of private boats, called "Motoscafi", which link direcly Marco Polo Airport with the city of Venice, stopping in different points of the city. The service is cheaper than water taxis and is divided into 4 lines with different routes (see map):


BLU line:

Tickets: € 6,50 - € 15,00 (depending on which stop you get off)



RED line:

Tickets: € 6,50 - € 15,00 (depending on which stop you get off)



ORANGE line:

Tickets: € 13,00




GOLD line:

Tickets: € 25,00




Gold Line (or Linea Oro) is the fast and direct link between Marco Polo Airport and San Marco's Square.


● At Marco Polo Airport you can buy your tickets for Venice at the Alilaguna ticket booth in the arrivals hall

● The service is available 365 days in a year, from about 6 a.m. till midnight (complete timetable in pdf)

● If you have "CartaVenezia" card it is possible to purchase Alilaguna tickets at a lower price

● You can carry two bags per person: one hand bag and one big bag




Water Taxis are private boats (motoscafi) which can hold up to 10-12 persons. It's the most charming way to reach Venice but it is also the most expensive (the fare between airport and a hotel in city centre is around € 95-130.


You can find water taxis walking to the water taxi station (follow signals). The walk takes around 5-10 minutes.
