If shopping is one of the thing you like to do, you will love Venice! There are several streets where you can find hundreds of stores and shops which sell more or less everything. The most are little shops but there also major international chain stores.
The main shopping areas are around San Marco Square, where you can find luxury and fashion brands. If you are in St Marks Square and walk to Rialto you will meet boutiques which sell the most famous brands of the world, such as Gucci, Bulgari, Prada, Diesel, Bottega Veneta, Valentino and so on. Obviously prices are very very high, but walking around and watch the windows isn't, so why don't make you eyes shine? One tip about these areas: you will find several illegal street vendors around the boutiques .They sell goods at low prices (especially women bags) but pay attention because its illegal buying false merchandise.
If you are looking for the famous Venetian glass products you should travel to the nearby island of Murano, where they have been made since 1300. Its the best place where you can buy glassware cause producers have their showrooms and shops are dedicated to glass. You can find Murano glasses even in the city centre, especially in San Marco area, at the same (high) prices of the producers in Murano.
Venice jewels are also well known. In St Marks Square are present some of the oldest jewellery shop in Venice. We are talking about Missiaglia and Nardi, which were established over a century ago and claim a wide variety of clients, ranging from members of well-known European families to personalities of the international jet set.
Venice is famous for its carnival and for its masks and costumes. Its easy to buy a cheap mask in the hundreds of little shops and artisans throughout the city, or from street vendors during carnival time. If you instead are looking for a quality mask you should find a traditional workshop where masks are hand-made. The most famous probably are "Mondonovo", which sell over 800 models and supplied famous directors as Franco Zeffirelli and Stanley Kubrick, and "Laboratorio Artigiano Maschere", which is one of the oldest maskmaking studio in Venice.
If you are scared of expensive places and want to see where Venetians which live in historic centre buy their everyday goods you should consider to visit a shopping center (Coin for example) or the streets close to Rialto Bridge full of characteristic and charming shops. Pay attention to the Rialto Food Market, which takes place six days a weeks and where you'll find Venetians and restaurants owners doing shopping.
